Hello to all of my fellow taxpayers!

I am Becky Simmer, the District Coordinator for the AARP Tax-Aide District 45 which includes all of Sumter County and parts of Lake and Marion Counties.

For people who are interested in learning how Tax-Aide works and what tax counselors and client facilitators do, we are offering a Villages Tax-Aide volunteer orientation. The video orientation is on our home page. Refer to the left on our home page for to access the video orientation.
Tax season 2024 is proving to be very exciting for us because we are opening up 7 brand new sites. We are planning to also provide tax services at Coleman Methodist Church, Hope Lutheran Church, Lake Deaton Methodist Church, Belvedere Public Library, Recreation Plantation, along with Aviary and Ezell Recreation Centers in The Villages. These new sites will give our taxpayers many more options to choose where they would like to get taxes done.

Speaking of the 2024 tax season, Villages Tax Aide appointments will be made available online on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 8 am. Check out our website for more information as January 4th gets closer.

We had a very successful tax year 2023 here at District 45. We filed over 9,000 tax returns electronically which were accepted by the IRS. We also prepared 84 amended returns and answered over 1,000 questions. My thanks go out to all of our volunteers who did such outstanding work last tax season.

Taxpayers can do so much more than just make appointments on our website. Under the Taxpayer Resources tab, taxpayers can find additional worksheets and information to help them with their 2023 tax return. Under the Taxpayer FAQs tab, we have answers for some of the most common questions that taxpayers may have. For example, RMDs, QCDs and IP PINs. Check those two tabs out!
