Wow!!!  What a tax season 2025 did we had!!! 

Hi! I’m Becky Simmer, the district coordinator for Tax-Aide District 45 that serves Sumter, Marion and Lake counties.

We started this 2025 tax season by having an amazing recruitment class.  That infusion of new volunteers boosted our staff in District 45 to 151 tax counselors and 55 client facilitators.  

This season we staffed 10 Tax-Aide sites.  We all welcomed the return of the Colony Cottage Recreation Center site. 

This 2025 tax season we e-filed 9251 tax returns that were accepted by the IRS.  

At Colony Cottage alone we e-filed 5926 returns.  This made our Colony site the most productive Tax-Aide site in the entire country.  

All told we served nearly 10,000 taxpayers.  This means that in District 45 we served the most taxpayers of any Tax-Aide district in the country.

I want to sincerely thank all 207 of our volunteers for their diligent efforts that make all of this possible.  

Don’t forget about our Summer Program that will open on Monday afternoons at Colony Cottage Recreation Center beginning May 18th.  Our staff can help you with amendments, extensions and letters from the IRS.

In closing, I’m very proud of the accomplishments our District 45 team has achieved this year.  We are looking forward to serving our community again in the next tax season.
