Steps to Become a New or a Returning
Tax-Aide Client Facilitator
As you obtain your usernames and passwords for the following sites write them down immediately on your TY24 MY CONNECTIONS sheet:
Link and Learn where you take your tests to become certified
SignUp Genius where you sign up to work for Tax-Aide
Acuity where you make, change or delete appointments for taxpayers
STEP 2: If you have not already signed up to become an AARP volunteer:
- Click here to complete the application process on the AARP website
- Enter your AARP user name and password
- If you have never registered for AARP, click on the “Create Account” link
- Then enter your email address twice, your password, your name, zip code, birthday, the security challenge, yes to the User Agreement and select the Register link
- Then complete and submit the Tax-Aide Volunteer Application that appears
STEP 3: Prepare for the IRS Standards of Conduct quiz and the Intake/Quality Review quiz
STEP 4: Take the Standards of Conduct quiz and the Intake/Quality Review quiz (hopefully available 12/15/2024)
STEP 5: Deliver the Volunteer Standards of Agreement form to the CF Coordinator
- Once you have passed both tests you will see the “2024 VITA/TCE Certification Test” page again. That page now indicates you passed both tests.
- Click on the “My Account” tab that is right next to the “2024 VITA/TCE Certification Test” tab.
- On the “My Account” page that appears, make any necessary additions or changes to your information.
- Returning CFs typically must just update the number of years that you have volunteered.
- Then click on the “Save” button at the bottom of the page.
- You will then return to the “2024 VITA/TCE Certification Test” page. In the right hand column on that page:
- Check the check box that allows you to electronically sign your Volunteer AgreementThen click on the link located just below that check box labeled “Click here to open and complete your Volunteer Agreement”Complete the Volunteer Standards of Conduct Agreement, Form 13615, that appearsPrint the Volunteer Standards of Conduct Agreement form by either saving it as a PDF file or by printing the form on paperSend an email to your CF Coordinator at jackieschibline@gmail.com
- In the email, either:
- Attach your Form 13615 PDF file, (Preferred method), or,
- Request the address from your CF Coordinator where to send the paper copy of your Conduct Agreement
STEP 6: Complete the required on line courses that are located on the AARP portal
- Click here to access the 2 mandatory on line courses on the Volunteer Portal
- You MUST use a computer to successfully access the on line courses on the AARP portal. A tablet device, such as an iPad, will not work.
- Once you are see your home page of the volunteer portal, then select the “Training” option on the Menu Bar at the top of the page.
- You can access each of the on line courses by clicking on the appropriate box located near the bottom of the page
- Complete the AARP Policies and Procedures TY2024 FIRST
- Complete the AARP Technology and Security TY2024 SECOND
- Complete the AARP Tax-Aide Reimbursement for Volunteers TY 2024 – OPTIONAL
STEP 7: Complete the in-person training at Colony Cottage Recreation Center
- New Client Facilitators: either Tuesday, January 14, 2025 or January 21, 2025 from 9 am to 4 pm,
- Returning Client Facilitators: either Thursday, January 16, 2025 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm OR January 23, 2025 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm in the Hearth Room
- OPTIONAL: Additional Practice Session on Monday, January 27, 2025 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm in the Keeping Room.
